The Road Users Awareness and Welfare initiative (RUAWI) from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has entered a partnership with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) on enlightening Nigerians on road safety.

Chairman of RUAWI, Oladayo Bello, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the FCCPC in Abuja.

According to him, the initiative is seeking collaboration with all government parastatals, cooperate organizations and individuals that are connected to human safety with the aim of coming together to find lasting solution to untimely deaths on Nigerian roads.

Oladayo emphasized on a type of insurance that Nigerian road users should be aware of, which is passenger indemnity insurance.

“Passenger indemnity insurance is an additional insurance you can take out with your car insurance. With a passenger indemnity insurance you are not only insured yourself, but also your passengers are insured in case of an accident, some many road users are paying for this insurance yet they are not aware, ” he said.

Speaking on the awareness, the executive commissioner of operatives, FCCPC, Dr Adamu Ahmed Abdullahi, noted that the initiative is needed in the society, adding that the organization had started on the right note by visiting the right set of people.

However, he expressed displeasure with health practitioners who don’t administer treatment to emergency patients, noting that the Patients’ Bill of Rights (PBoR) mandates health practitioners to prioritize treatment over cost, payment and law enforcement requirements.
