APC Demands Probe of Alleged N130bn Airport Project In Adeleke’s Hometown

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called for an investigation into the alleged N130 billion airport project in Governor Ademola Adeleke’s hometown of Ede, raising concerns over the reported project cost, contract award process and transparency.

The party, through the Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Remi Omowaiye, alleged that the upward review of the project cost lacked accountability and due process.

Omowaiye claimed the airport project, which he said was initially valued at about N100 billion, had risen to N130 billion without adequate explanation from the state government.

He also alleged that the company handling the airport project was not registered to execute such specialised infrastructure.

The APC further claimed that contracts for other major projects, including road construction and a flyover, were awarded to companies whose registered business activities did not align with the nature of the projects.

According to the opposition party, the development raises concerns about due process and prudent management of public funds.

Omowaiye also faulted the decision of the Adeleke administration to pursue the airport project, arguing that neighbouring states already have airports that are yet to achieve commercial viability.

He maintained that the state government should prioritise more pressing developmental needs instead of embarking on what he described as an expensive and unnecessary project.
The APC spokesman further criticised the administration for abandoning the airport project initiated by the previous government and commencing a new one in Ede.

He called on anti-corruption agencies and other relevant authorities to investigate the project and ensure accountability in the utilisation of public resources.
