The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to urgently investigate reported attacks and vandalisation of party and support group offices and vehicles in parts of the state.

The party also demanded an impartial investigation into alleged assaults and intimidation of its members and supporters, urging security agencies to establish the facts surrounding the incidents and prosecute anyone found culpable based on credible evidence.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Sani Dan Azare, the Kaduna APC expressed concern over reports of attacks involving its offices, those of support groups and vehicles, as well as alleged assaults and intimidation of its members and supporters.

The party said it was aware that different claims and allegations had emerged in connection with the reported incidents, stressing that security agencies should independently examine every credible lead and relevant evidence made available to them.

It urged the police and other security agencies to determine what actually transpired and identify those responsible, saying appropriate action should be taken in accordance with the law.

The APC cautioned against allowing the incidents to undermine what it described as significant progress Kaduna State had made in moving beyond political, ethnic and religious tensions that had previously affected the state’s stability.

The party said the gains made in maintaining peace should not be endangered by violence, intimidation, vandalism or any other unlawful conduct.

It therefore called on all political parties, candidates, and their supporters in the state to conduct themselves responsibly and within the law, stressing the need for peaceful, issue-based political engagement.

The Kaduna APC also appealed to its members and support groups to remain calm and exercise maximum restraint, particularly in the face of the reported incidents.

It warned members against retaliation or self-help, urging anyone with information or evidence regarding the incidents to make it available to the appropriate security agencies.

The party said the outcome of a credible investigation would help establish the facts and ensure that those responsible, if identified, were dealt with in accordance with the law.

“No political contest is greater than the peace and security of Kaduna State,” the party said.

It added: “Let the facts be established. Let due process prevail. Let the law take its course.”
