APC Primaries: Kwara Reps Aspirant Rejects Result, Demands Fresh Election

An aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Ekiti/Irepodun/Oke-Ero/Isin Federal Constituency in Kwara State, Hon. Chief Oluwasegun Olaoye, has rejected the outcome of the exercise and called for a fresh election.

Olaoye, in a petition addressed to the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, alleged that no valid primary election was conducted across the wards in the constituency.

The petition was also copied to the Kwara State Chairman of the APC and the Chairman of the party’s Appeal Committee for the House of Representatives primary election.

According to the aspirant, the exercise failed to comply with the provisions of the APC Constitution, the party’s Electoral Guidelines for Primary Elections, and the Electoral Act 2022.

He alleged that there was no proper accreditation of delegates, voting process, or transparent collation of results during the exercise.

“The purported exercise fell far short of the standards expected of a democratic process and does not reflect the genuine will of APC members across Ekiti, Irepodun, Oke-Ero and Isin Local Government Areas,” Olaoye stated.

He further claimed that the process was marred by irregularities capable of undermining the credibility of the party’s internal democratic process in the constituency.

Olaoye, who described himself as a loyal party member and grassroots politician, said he had contributed significantly to the growth of the APC in Kwara State over the years.
He also maintained that he enjoys wide acceptance within the constituency and expressed confidence that a credible and transparent primary election would have produced a different outcome.

The aspirant therefore urged the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC to nullify the outcome of the May 16, 2026 primary election and conduct a fresh exercise under the direct supervision of the party’s National Secretariat.

He called for a process that would ensure equal opportunities for all aspirants, proper accreditation of delegates, secure voting procedures and transparent collation of results

While reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, Olaoye said his demand for a fresh primary election was aimed at protecting internal democracy and strengthening the party ahead of the general elections.

“I remain committed to the ideals and progress of our great party. My appeal is driven solely by the need to uphold justice, fairness and the integrity of the APC,” he added.
