The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mukhtar Rabi’u Garki has been declared winner of the by-election for the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency seat held on Saturday in Jigawa State.
The INEC Returning Officer for the by-election, Prof. Salisu Ibrahim, announced the results at the INEC headquarters in Babura local government area.
Prof. Ibrahim stated that the election was conducted peacefully across the 21 political wards of Garki and Babura local governments.
According to the results, the APC candidate, Mukhtar Rabi’u Garki secured a total of 38,449 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Isa Auwalu scored 13,519 votes and Sabo Salisu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) received 2,931 votes.
“Having scored the highest number of votes and satisfied all electoral laws, Mukhtar Rabi’u Garki of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is hereby declared the winner and duly elected in the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election,” Prof. Ibrahim announced.
