The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Ibrahim Idriss Madaki, has flagged off his campaign in Potiskum, intensified consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, and sought royal blessings from traditional rulers, while mobilising political supporters across the state.
Madaki visited the Emirs of Potiskum and Fika, where he identified himself as a son of the soil, a native of Potiskum and someone familiar with the traditional institution.
He said he was at the palaces to seek the monarchs’ blessings, prayers and support as he embarked on his governorship ambition.
The two traditional rulers welcomed him and offered prayers for the success of his political journey, expressing hope that it would begin and end peacefully.
After the palace visits, Madaki proceeded to meet the APM State Chairman, where he was received by party leaders, political candidates and supporters.
Those present included the party’s zonal chairman, senatorial candidates, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates from Zone B, as well as the deputy governorship candidate.
Supporters from Geidam, Gashua and Damaturu also attended the gathering, which attracted a large turnout of youths.
The mobilisation featured an estimated convoy of 130 vehicles, underscoring the scale of support assembled for the candidate during the political engagement.
The gathering was largely dominated by young people, highlighting the role of youth mobilisation in Madaki’s emerging governorship campaign.
