Aquatics Federation Salutes Police For Releasing Swimmers For Commonwealth Games

The Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAqF) has praised the Nigeria Police Force for releasing two of its elite swimmers to represent Team Nigeria at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

NAqF President Lekan Fatodu commended Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu for approving the release of Corporal Collins Ebinga and Corporal Dorcas Oka ahead of the Games, scheduled for 23 July to 2 August.

Fatodu described the decision as a demonstration of visionary leadership and strong commitment to sports development, adding that it would boost Nigeria’s medal ambitions in Scotland.

He also praised Police Swimming Association chairman DCP Bello for his continued efforts in developing talented swimmers within the Force.

“We deeply appreciate the Inspector-General of Police for this invaluable support and encouragement. His commitment to sports has once again demonstrated that Nigerian athletes can count on the backing of the Police Force as they pursue international success,” Fatodu said.

He urged Ebinga and Oka to compete with discipline, courage and integrity while flying Nigeria’s flag with pride.
