Archbishop Decries Insecurity, Urges Wealth Creation, Good Governance

Vice President of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Prof. Benjamin Pakol, has admonished the newly installed leaders of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) to eschew the pitfalls of modern religious authority.

Pakol stated this in a sermon during the installation of ECWA new vice president, Rev. Madubuko Chidi Joseph and  also to mark the formal retirement of the immediate past vice president, Rev. Dr. Stephen Ajise.

LEADERSHIP reports that the event served as both a celebration and a sobering call to faithful governance.

Drawing his message from 1 Corinthians 9:19–27, Pokol lamented that many contemporary church leaders have arrogated excessive powers to themselves rather than emulating Jesus Christ’s model of a servant leader.

Pokol charged Joseph, who brings a background as an accountant and church administrator to the role, to embrace humility and resist the urge to be served by the congregation.

He emphasised that leaders who serve diligently ultimately attract divine grace and the strength necessary to fulfill their responsibilities.

He further extended the charge to the entire congregation, noting that being a Christian inherently requires humility and that any position in life demands service to God.

Our correspondent reports that the installation was conducted by the ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Job Ayuba Bagat, who administered the oath of office to both Joseph and the newly appointed ECWA Trustee for Zone 9, Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Babatunde Omidiji (Rtd.).

Following the induction, Rev. Dr. Bagat called on the global ECWA membership to sustain their leaders in prayer, asking for the continued divine grace needed to discharge their duties faithfully.

In his acceptance speech, the newly installed Vice President, pledged to approach his new tenure with dedication and a spirit of true humility, signaling a commitment to the servant-heart leadership championed throughout the ceremony.
