Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army on Operation Lafiya Nakowa have neutralised two terrorists and recovered cache of arms and ammunition in Takum local government of Taraba State.
The operation was part of the ongoing effort by the military to eliminate terrorists and criminal activities across the state.
In a statement by the acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 3 Division, Aliyu Danja in Jalingo, the operation was jointly carried out by the troops of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of the Operation Whirl Stroke.
Danja said the troops while acting on credible intelligence regarding a planned attack on the Chanchanji community by the Bojo terrorist group on September 15, 2025, engaged the terrorists along the Demeva–Chanchanji road.
“The troops effectively neutralised one terrorist, forcing the others to retreat,” the statement said.
In a follow-up mission to intercept the fleeing suspects, troops pursued them to the Demeva–Gbudu axis identified as a planned crossing point into the Ananum community in Donga LGA.
“The troops engaged the remaining terrorists in a second firefight, neutralising one more,” Danja explained in the statement.
He disclosed that troops recovered items including 1 G3 rifle, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 1 motorcycle during the operations.
The Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism during the operations.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to conducting aggressive operations against all criminal elements threatening the peace of Taraba State and its environs.
Brigadier General Uwa also urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support the ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace in the region.
