Tolu Arokodare has hit out at “inaccurate” media reports, insisting he remains a committed Wolves player after claims he was banned from first-team training amid a fiery dispute at the club’s Compton Park ground.
The 25-year-old forward broke his silence following allegations that he refused to leave the pitch when told to train alone—prompting Monday’s session to be cancelled and extra security to be brought in on Tuesday.
“I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports, many of which are inaccurate,” Arokodare said.
“Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards.
“My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my teammates and the club whenever I am called upon. I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract.”
The drama unfolds under new manager Cesar Peixoto, who took over after Wolves’ Premier League relegation, and comes as Serie A sides Genoa and Fiorentina circle the striker—who netted six goals in 38 outings last season.
Fiorentina have reportedly had a bid rejected, while Arokodare turned down Trabzonspor, with Ajax also linked.
His omission from a pre-season friendly against Maidenhead United only deepened exit talk.
But the row carries extra weight amid new FIFA regulations—agreed with FIFPRO—that explicitly ban clubs from forcing contracted players to train separately or isolating them in “bomb squads” to pressure transfers.
FIFPRO explained: “Players will be better protected from abusive practices. Demoting players, forcing them to train in isolation as a form of pressure, withholding passports or abusing registration procedures are now expressly prohibited. These practices have affected too many players for too long and have no place in modern football.”
