Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly spoken directly with Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior in a bid to convince the Brazil international to move to the Premier League champions this summer.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, Arteta outlined his vision for the club and assured Vinicius that he would become the focal point of Arsenal’s long-term project if he completed the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
The report adds that Arsenal are prepared to table an offer worth up to €150 million for the 26-year-old as they seek to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
Vinicius returned to Real Madrid for pre-season training on Monday, undergoing routine medical assessments before rejoining his team-mates.
The Brazilian is also expected to hold face-to-face talks with the club’s hierarchy this week as uncertainty continues to surround his future at the Santiago Bernabéu.
With Vinicius entering the final months of his current contract, speculation over his next move has intensified, although neither Arsenal nor Real Madrid has publicly commented on the reported discussions.
