A political associate of Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr. Jibril Tafida, has raised the alarm over alleged ‘multimillion naira plot’ of a dirty media campaign against the current Senate leadership.

Speaking to journalists in Kaduna at the weekend, Tafida claimed the plot was an agenda that arose from “transfer of anger, emanating from the just-concluded ministerial screening, as many politicians thought they would be ministers under the current dispensation.”

He said those hatching the “well-oiled dirty media campaign have already agreed on news angles to take and share with local and foreign media channels in order to reach a wider audience.”

Dr. Tafida called on the Senate under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio “not to be distracted from his commendable legislative activism and the leadership of the upper chamber of the National Assembly.”

He, therefore, called on Nigerians to ignore “all the negative narratives they see in local and foreign media because the people behind them don’t have Nigeria and democracy at heart.”
