National President of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), Victor Bem, has called for continuous capacity building for university administrators in the country.

Bem made the call during the opening ceremony of a four-day ANUPA training workshop for university administrators in the South-East zone in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

The workshop is themed “Advancing University Resilience Through Effective Strategic Governance, Administrative Excellence and Institutional Sustainability.”

He explained that such training would, among other benefits, go a long way in enhancing efficient service delivery in universities in particular and the country in general.

According to the president, the training is designed to strengthen the capacity of administrators to lead institutions with vision, integrity and foresight.

Declaring the workshop open, the Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Ursula Akanwa, said the theme was timely, especially in the present digital era.

Akanwa further said the workshop provides an opportunity for participants to rethink, rebuild and reposition themselves for greater resilience and effectiveness.

In her remarks, the National Public Relations Officer of ANUPA, Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu, urged members to uphold hard work, dedication and accountability.

She added that the training was decentralised across the six geopolitical zones of the country to enable university administrators to access it conveniently.

Also speaking, the Acting Chairman of ANUPA, MOUAU Branch, Christian Ekpo, thanked participants for their contributions and underscored the need for the workshop to be held regularly.
