Plateau State chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) has renewed the call for full implementation of the disability law, increased budgetary allocation, accessible public buildings, transportation and ICT services for people living with disabilities.

It also called for more empowerment programmes that match global best practices and in the spirit of the UN’s IDPD and the Global Disability Summit, called on every stakeholder to deepen their commitment to the association.

The state chairman of JONAPWD, Shindol Aaron, made the call while addressing newsmen in Jos on the occasion of the 2025 International Day of Persons With Disability (IDPD) with the theme: Leadership and Empowerment.

According to him, empowerment should not be a one-day activity but a consistent investment stressing that leadership should not only be symbolic, but participatory and transformative.

“We urge government MDAs, donor agencies, NGOs, the private sector, and community leaders to work hand-in-hand with us. Together, we can transform Plateau State into a model of disability inclusion in Nigeria,” he said.
