Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham remains defiant about his side’s Premier League title aspirations, despite their recent 1-1 draw against Leeds United. Abraham, who came off the bench to score Villa’s equaliser after Anton Stach’s stunning 31st-minute free-kick had given Leeds the lead, believes the gap to the top is not insurmountable.
Speaking to BBC Final Score after the game, Abraham commented on the challenging encounter: “Watching Leeds with their past few results, they have been grabbing draws and making games tough for opponents. So we knew what to expect and we are happy that we didn’t end up losing the game, and we just have to keep going and keep believing in ourselves.”
The forward expressed confidence in the squad’s quality, stating: “When I first arrived, I spoke with a few of the boys and watching from afar, you can see that the team has a lot of qualities. We’re delighted to be where we are today but we are so close, so we have to just keep pushing and keep believing in ourselves.”
Abraham concluded with a message of hope for Villa fans: “Who knows what can happen? We are not too far from Arsenal who are at the top. Unfortunately, today we didn’t get the win, but we just have to keep pushing.”
