At Easter, Akpabio Assures Nigerians of End to Insecurity

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has assured Nigerians that the wave of insecurity across the country will soon become a thing of the past.

Akpabio gave the assurance in his Easter message delivered at the Field Major Convention of The Apostolic Church, Ikot Obong Edong, Ikot Ekpene, in Akwa Ibom State.

According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media/Communication, Anietie Ekong, the Senate President acknowledged the pain and loss experienced by many families due to ongoing security challenges.

“Across our country, many families are passing through moments of grief and loss. Some have lost loved ones in the line of duty—our brave men and women in uniform who daily put their lives on the line to defend our nation,” he said.

He added that several Nigerians have also lost relatives and friends in homes, places of worship, markets, farms, and workplaces as the country continues to grapple with insecurity.

Offering words of comfort, Akpabio said the nation shares in the grief of affected families. “To such families, please know that your pain is shared by the entire nation. We mourn with you, pray for you, and honour the memory of those whose lives have been cut short. Their sacrifices can never be forgotten,” he stated.

Despite the challenges, the Senate President expressed optimism that the Easter season symbolises hope and renewal, assuring that peace and security would soon prevail.

“Just as the resurrection revealed the complete triumph of Christ, I firmly believe that soon Nigeria’s story will also reach its full and victorious conclusion—Nigeria defeats insecurity, evil, and fear,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to embrace unity, compassion, and solidarity, stressing that Easter reminds believers that darkness never has the final word.

“It teaches us that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Therefore, let us reject hatred and division and embrace unity as one people while we await our morning,” he added.

In his homily, the Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church and host of the convention, Apostle (Dr) E. O. Akpan, expressed confidence that through prayers, the current insecurity confronting the nation would give way to lasting peace and development in Nigeria.
