Director-general of Okrika local government area of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Hon Onengiye Leonard Tamunoigbeinbia, has reiterated the commitment of Rivers people to the Presidency of Atiku/Okowa, stating that he is their consensus candidate.
Tamunoigbeinbia said there is no basis for comparing Atiku with other presidential candidates adding that he is the only one with presidential campaign experience.
“Most of the other candidates are running for the office of the president for the first time, ” Tamunoigbeinbia said.
Tamunoigbeinbia made this known in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.
He said, “Rivers people have a huge stake to protect in the Atiku/Okowa ticket. The message has already been passed.”
Tamunoigbeinbia explained that Atiku’s treasures which are his investments and businesses are majorly in Rivers State adding that Atiku’s heart is also in Rivers State.
Leonard, who is a member of the Directorate of Youths in the PDP -PCC said: “Atiku has cited most of his investments and companies in Rivers State which have given employment to our people and helped to build our IGR. This he has done to scratch our backs and we will return the favour.
“Rivers people are sensible people that do not forget history but it is good to refresh our memory. Atiku has the prerequisite experience, contacts both internationally and across the country, and has impacted many lives through his many philanthropic works.
Speaking on unemployment, Tamunoigbeinbia explained that Atiku had taken many unemployed youths out of the streets through his many businesses in Rivers State, in his home state of Adamawa, and he also created over 50,000 direct jobs and 250,000 indirect ones.
“As Vice President Atiku assembled what is arguably the best Economic Team ever in Nigeria. It was made up of young, world-class professionals, who came home to work. Some of those professionals are now political leaders, governors, and world leaders in their own right.
“He has a proven record of bringing young, unknown professionals into service. Many of the professionals and ministers brought in by Atiku were in their 30s and early 40s. Some of those young leaders have become governors in their states.
“There is no doubt that if allowed to become Nigeria’s president in 2023 Atiku will bring to practice his experience in governance and consequently take Nigerians out of the present socio and economic decadence.
“We want to state in clear terms that Atiku Abubakar is the Consensus candidate of true Rivers sons and daughters,” he said.
