Former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, has challenged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to a popularity walk on the streets of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Amaechi, who is also a former governor of Rivers State, disclosed this on Thursday night while speaking on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today’, which was monitored by our correspondent in Port Harcourt.

Amaechi said: “Let the Minister of the FCT, well, I don’t want to make him the topic of the conversation; let him come, let’s take a walk from the Airport (Port Harcourt International Airport) to Port Harcourt. No Police, no Army; just two of us.

“That will tell us who is more popular. I don’t know why he doesn’t respect people like us. I am older and I brought him up in politics.”

The former minister, who is now a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that he officially resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) before joining the ADC.

Amaechi said: “Yes, I officially resigned from the APC on Tuesday. I resigned from my ward. I have already transmitted my letter to my ward chairman.

“So, I directed one of my staff from my village to convey the letter to the ward chairman that I have left the party if there was any party called APC.”

When asked if he thinks there is no APC in Rivers State, Amaechi said: “You know there is so much noise going on.”
