Ahead of today’s All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Bauchi State, one of the aspirants, Dr Bala Maijama’a Wunti, has expressed confidence in the leadership of the party at both the national and state levels.
He called for unity, peace and issue-based politics among party faithful.
At a press conference in Bauchi yesterday, the chief executive officer of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation, Mukhtar Ahmed Jarmajo, said the APC national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, had continued to provide what he described as “moral and technical leadership” capable of strengthening the party ahead of the crucial primary election.
Jarmajo also commended the leadership of the Bauchi State APC under the chairmanship of Mohammed Hassan Tilde, expressing confidence in the party’s ability to conduct a credible and peaceful exercise.
According to him, Dr Wunti remains a committed and loyal member of the APC who has contributed significantly to the unity and growth of the party in Bauchi State.
He warned supporters and political actors against violence, inflammatory statements, and hate speech, urging all aspirants and their supporters to embrace peaceful conduct before, during, and after the primaries.
“We believe in the unity of the APC and the democratic process. Our campaign has always been about inclusiveness, development and respect for party structures,” Jarmajo stated.
The support organisation further reiterated Dr Wunti’s commitment to the progress of the APC and the development of Bauchi State, insisting that the aspirant remains focused on delivering purposeful leadership if given the party’s ticket.
Observers say Dr Wunti’s influence within the party has continued to grow, especially following his donation of over 20 fully air-conditioned buses to the Bauchi APC, a gesture many party supporters described as a major boost to the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
