The ambush targeted a joint patrol team comprising members of the Community Watch Corps and vigilante corps who were providing security for farmers harvesting crops near Ungwar Kafa.

In a gunfight that lasted over an hour, four CWC members and two vigilante corps members were killed, while one was injured.

In a statement by his spokesman, Ibrahim Kaula, Governor Radda praised the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen operatives.

“These brave men are the true heroes of our state, their sacrifice in the line of duty will never be forgotten,” the statement stated.

He commended the swift response of security forces, including the police and military personnel who arrived at the scene and successfully repelled the attackers, forcing the bandits to flee into a nearby forest.

“Our security operatives displayed exceptional courage and coordination, and their prompt action undoubtedly saved many lives and protected our hardworking farmers,” the statement said.

Governor Radda assured residents that the area remained under close surveillance with ongoing efforts to track down the perpetrators.
