A top security officer has confirmed the killing of a former Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Ibrahim Gajere, by suspected bandits who attacked mourners in Dogon Noma community during a burial ceremony on Monday, February 16, 2026.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP on Wednesday night, a security officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said: “It is true the former chairman was killed by suspected bandits. The mourners were attacked during a burial ceremony. His corpse was recovered in the bush today.”
The former local government council chairman went missing after the attack while his corpse was found on Wednesday in the bush near the scene of the attack.
Recall that suspected terrorists invaded Dogon-Noma where residents had gathered for the burial of the father of a Kaduna politician, Usman Stingo.
Eyewitnesses had said mourners fled when the attackers opened fire near the burial site.
The attackers burnt four vehicles, including the official vehicle of the chairman of Kajuru local government area, Dauda Madaki.
