The deputy general manager, Corporate Communications & Investor Relations, Sovereign Trust Insurance(STI) Plc, Segun Bankole has assumed the position of president of the Corporate Affairs Managers Committee of Nigerian Insurers Association (CAMCONIA).
CAMCONIA is a unit formed to coordinate communications in the insurance industry.
Bankole emerged as chairman in a meeting held recently by the head of the corporate affairs units of insurance companies in the country.
The chief Marketing officer, Heirs Insurance Group, Ifesinachi Okpagu, was elected as deputy chairman, while Senior Marketing Services coordinator, Sanlam Nigeria Limited, Bankole Banjo is the general secretary.
Their emergence is expected to reposition and enhance insurance education and awareness as they are considered fit and proper for the job.
While imploring the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) and management of insurance companies to lend the necessary support to the new leadership of CAMCONIA, market observers added that, corporate communications managers should be allowed to focus on their duties as against turning them to marketers, a development which is responsible for poor visibility of most firms.
Segun Bankole is the current deputy GM & Head-Corporate Communications at Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc.
He is also member of Global Development Network, member of Nigerian Institute of Management and Associate Member at The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, while he has received an MBA from the University of Calabar and an undergraduate degree from Obafemi Awolowo University.
