Chief Ibraheem Babayeju, the eldest son of the late High Chief Ganiyu Aremu Babayeju-Alemo, has celebrated his father’s legacy.
Speaking during his vote of thanks after the 8th-day Fidau prayer in honour of High Chief Ganiyu Aremu Babayeju-Alemo recently, Basorun Babayeju expressed deep gratitude for the values his father instilled, integrity, service, and unwavering commitment to the truth.
High Chief Ganiyu Babayeju-Alemo was laid to rest at his residence in Gbangba Ijaye, Abeokuta, recently, by Islamic rites. The event, which was held at the DLK Event Center in Abeokuta, brought together dignitaries, family members, and community leaders to pay tribute to a man whose influence spanned business, telecommunications, and traditional leadership.
Chief Ibraheem Babayeju also extended sincere appreciation to all who honoured their invitation, acknowledging their presence as a testament to the legacy and respect his father commanded. He said,
“As the family bids farewell, they remain committed to preserving his legacy, ensuring that his contributions to business, tradition, and society continue to inspire future generations.”
Ibraheem, who led the family in honouring their patriarch’s memory, is the Basorun of Ikoyi Ekiti, Principal Consultant at Ocean Midas Consulting Ltd, and CEO of Investment Ideas Convergenz Ltd (IICL).
The late High Chief pioneered Nigeria’s telecommunications industry, having founded Telecommunications Construction Company (TCC Nigeria Limited) and played a vital role in the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON). Beyond his corporate achievements, he was a revered traditional leader, holding the titles of Balogun of Ijaye and Aare Onakakanfo of Egbaland.
The Fidau prayer was graced by dignitaries, including His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State, represented by Mrs Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan, Commissioner for Rural Development, HRM. Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu IV – Alake of Egbaland represented by High Chief Sikiru Atobatele, Balogun of Egbaland; High Chief S. O. A. Bankole, Apena of Egbaland; High Chief Tosin Fadare, the Seriki of Egbaland, former Military Administrator of Sokoto State, High Chief Rasheed Raji, Chief Joju Fadairo, Fiwagbayi of Egbaland; Chief Shamsudeen Koleosho, Balogun of Ijaye Obirinti; High Chief Abdulakeem Owolabi Mustapha, Akinfiwatolu of Egbaland and Chief Lai Labode (Jnr), Osi Apagun Pote of Egbaland and all Olorogun Chiefs in Egbaland as well as Ijaye traditional chiefs amongst others.
