The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Bauchi State, has constituted a reconciliation committee to unite party members, following the recent court judgment over the leadership crisis in the state.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday, the Deputy Secretary of Publicity of the ADC in Bauchi State, Harsanu Yunusa Guyaba, said the move comes after the Bauchi State High Court, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, affirmed Hassan Haruna as the duly recognised, authentic, and lawful chairman of the party in the state, effectively resolving a prolonged leadership dispute.
According to Guyaba the committee was aimed to address internal divisions and reposition the party for future success.
He noted that with the crisis now settled, the party is better positioned to receive new members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“As you are aware, a faction within the party had challenged the legitimacy of the current leadership in court. However, the court has now clearly affirmed the existing leadership under Mallam Hassan Haruna,” he said.
Garba welcomed the judgment, describing it as a major step toward stability, while noting that internal disagreements are not unusual in political parties, especially those formed through mergers.
He called on aggrieved members, particularly those aligned with Alhaji Mahmood Hassan Tabla, to accept the court’s verdict in good faith and work collectively toward the unity and progress of the party.
The ADC spokesperson also criticised both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of failing to address the challenges facing Nigerians.
He urged citizens to support the ADC as a credible alternative capable of delivering meaningful change.
Hon. Harsanu further reaffirmed that the Bauchi State chapter of the party remains loyal to and takes directives solely from the national leadership, led by David Mark.
He also urged party members to maintain discipline, respect constitutional provisions, and resolve internal disagreements through established party mechanisms to preserve unity ahead of future political activities.
