Bauchi Govt Approves 17 Road Projects, Others

Bauchi State government has approved the construction and rehabilitation of 17 new rural and urban roads across the state in an effort to enhance the quality of citizens’ lives.

Speaking to journalists on the outcome of the state council meeting presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed yesterday, the commissioner for works and transport, Hon. Ibrahim Gambo Galadima, said the road construction projects, mostly in the state capital, are in addition to the ongoing ones under the administration’s rural and urban renewal initiative.

Gambo also said the council approved reversing Yankari Transport Corporation’s operations from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to the Ministry of Works and Transport in accordance with global best practices.

For her part, the commissioner for lands and survey, Hajiya Amina Katagum, said the council has ratified and approved street naming and house numbering in all parts of the state to align the state with global best practices.

Katagum said the move was also aimed at providing basic amenities to households and enhancing the security of lives and properties.

She announced that the state government directed that, henceforth, all land allocations within and outside the state capital shall be approved by the governor in accordance with the Bauchi State Land Use Act 2022, as amended.

Other memos approved during the council’s meeting include reversing the operations of Yankari Transport Corporation from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to the Ministry of Works and Transport. Also approved are memos moving the Federal Medical Center Azare to Misau local government area and introducing the state emergency services and ambulance system to care for accident victims effectively.
