Bauchi, UNESCO Empower Workers With AI Skills

Bauchi State government has commenced a three-day training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for civil servants to improve efficiency and service delivery in the public sector.

The training is organised by the Office of the Head of Civil Service in collaboration with the UNESCO.

Declaring the training open, the secretary to the state government (SSG), Aminu Hammayo, described the initiative as a major step toward repositioning the civil service for innovation in the digital age.

He said the adoption of digital tools, including Artificial Intelligence, would support decision-making, reduce administrative workload, and improve transparency in government operations.

In her remarks, a representative of UNESCO Abuja Office, Nneka Okafor, said the training is part of global efforts to promote the ethical and human-centered use of Artificial Intelligence.

She explained that participants would be equipped with knowledge on AI fundamentals, risks, opportunities, and responsible application in governance.

Earlier, the Head of Civil Service, Muhammad Sani Umar, urged participants to take full advantage of the programme, describing them as key drivers of digital transformation in the state.
