Students of Bauchi State University, Gadau ((BASUG) have decried the decision of the management to hold their results over alleged wild celebrations to commemorate their graduation.
The affected graduates, mostly from the main campus of the university in Gadau, completed their studies and sat for all the relevant examinations but were shocked to discover that their results weren’t released along with the other students.

LEADERSHIP reports that the main campus of the university houses four faculties, namely: Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Basic Medical Science, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Science.
One of the affected graduates, who pleaded anonymity, said nondisclosure of their results affected their preparation to take part in the mandatory year-long National Service.
He said although some of the students celebrated beyond approved borderlines, a generic punishment is not ideal “because other innocent students were made to bear the sin committed by other students.”

“I plead with the senate of the university to reconsider its decision and release our results to enable us to go for National Service in earnest,” he begged.
“The management of the university had earlier restricted graduating students to celebrate within the campus of the university.
“But some students organised a rally within the Gadau community and in the process, a boy was injured,” he said.
When contacted, the vice chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, declined to comment on the issue.
“There is no clarification. Nothing. Thank you,” she said and hung up her phone.
