Baze University has announced the appointment of Professor Abiodun Adeniyi as the new Vice-Chancellor following what it described as a “rigorous and competitive selection process.”

This was made known in a press release signed by the university’s management on Wednesday.

The announcement was made by the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and Founder of the institution, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, who approved the appointments on behalf of the Board of the University.

According to the statement, Professor Adeniyi has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the university, with effect from May 6, 2026, while Ahmad Mahmoud Lawi was also named as the new Registrar, effective the same date.

Professor Adeniyi, described as a “distinguished scholar of Communication and Media Epistemology,” previously served as Registrar of the institution before his elevation to the position of Vice-Chancellor. His appointment marks a transition from academic administration to the university’s top leadership role.

He is succeeded as Registrar by Alhaji Lawi, who until his appointment served as Director of Human Resources at the university.

The institution noted that both appointees have spent over a decade in service at the university, with records of “commitment, professionalism, and institutional loyalty.”

“The Board of Trustees expressed strong confidence in the capacity of the new Vice-Chancellor and Registrar to provide effective leadership and to advance the University’s mission, strengthen its academic standing, and enhance administrative excellence,” the statement read.

It further emphasised that the appointments reflect Baze University’s commitment to “continuity, merit-based leadership, and sustained institutional growth.”

The university community has since extended congratulations to both Professor Adeniyi and Alhaji Lawi, urging staff and stakeholders to support the new leadership as they assume office.
