The speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, has enjoined Christians to imbibe the lessons of Christmas, which are tolerance, perseverance, patience and forgiveness for the good of the state and the country.

Umar stated this in his 2025 Christmas message which was signed by his chief press secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, and made available to journalists in Lokoja yesterday.

The speaker noted that lessons of the occasion include the need to be tolerant, persevere, be patient, and forgive, components that are key to Jesus’ teachings.

He said Christmas is a period for Christians to come together to celebrate and solemnly remember the birth of Jesus Christ and the need for family and relatives to unite for the good of the community, while rejoicing with one another.

The lawmaker, who emphasised the need for the people of the state to continue to live in peace and harmony, said Kogi has a lot to teach other states of the federation in view of its unique geographical location.
