The Benue State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned unauthorised members and officials of the party against issuing suspension letters to members without recourse to the appropriate authorities.
The chairman, Comrade Austine Agada, who made the decision known in a communique at the end of an executive committee meeting in Makurdi, said the party was alarmed at the spate of suspensions by unauthorised members of the party at the local government level.
He said; “For the avoidance of doubt, the party has a working constitution, rules and procedures to which suspension process has to be followed, and even when suspensions are carried out using the right procedure, it must be ratified by the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party before it can be announced and effected accordingly.
“The party urges all aggrieved members to channel their grievances and complaints to the appropriate party organs in accordance with the party’s constitution.
“The party therefore warns unauthorised members and officials to desist forthwith from issuing unauthorised suspension letters without recourse to the appropriate authorities as failure to do so will attract sanctions.”
While declaring all suspensions issued some members of the party as null and void, the communique urged all local government party chairmen and stakeholders to stop party meetings and activities that would cause crisis in their areas.
It urged all party officials and members to seek proper permission from the State Working Committee (SWC) before carrying out any party activity and meeting henceforth.
