Benue State governor Hyacinth Alia has said that aside from the prompt payment of workers’ salaries, his administration will continue to ensure the payment of owed arrears, attend to issues of promotions and allowances, and ensure training and retraining of workers.
Governor Alia who gave the assurance during the commemoration of this year’s Workers’ Day, commended workers for their immense contributions towards the overall development of Benue.
He said, “I am promising to continue to prioritize the welfare of the workers.”
Aligning with the theme of the 2024 Work Day, which focuses on “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate,” the governor said his administration is already working in line with the theme, having renovated the state secretariat and also provided a dedicated 33KVA transformer to enable the workers have a healthy and conducive environment to operate.
Alia who spoke through the chief press secretary Tersoo Kula also said aside from prompt payment of workers’ salaries, his administration will continue to pay owed arrears, attend to issues of promotions and allowances, ensure training and retraining of the workers, saying issues of workers in the state will always be of prime concern in his government.
While wishing all the workers a happy celebration, the governor charged them to always imbibe the culture of transparency, compassion, accountability and sincerity.
He urged them to continue to support his efforts by delivering in their assigned roles as workers of the state and to also remain apolitical at all times.
