An improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists has killed no fewer than eight persons and injured three others in the Gamboru Ngala local government area of Borno State.
Credible sources said the explosion occurred around 11:00 am on Monday when vehicles travelling from Rann, headquarters of Kala-Balge local government area, to Gamboru Ngala stumbled on the IEDS.
The sources said the location was near Furunduma, 11 kilometres from Rann, adding that the victims included women and children.
A Civilian Joint Task Force member who spoke anonymously confirmed that eight people were involved in the explosion incident.
Another source said that the death toll may be higher than eight, considering the number of women and children involved in the travel.
Neither the military nor the police has issued any statement regarding the explosion as of when this report was filed.
