Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South) has confirmed that 42 people, including students and children, were abducted during a Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on Primary and Junior Government Day Secondary School, Mussa, in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

Ndume, in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday in Maiduguri, said the breakdown obtained from school authorities showed that four students were taken from the secondary section, 28 pupils from the primary school, and 10 children abducted from nearby homes.

He described the attack as “barbaric and disheartening,” calling on troops of Operation HADIN KAI to intensify efforts to rescue the victims and restore normalcy to the area.

According to him, the attack occurred during early morning classes, throwing parents and guardians into panic and distress.

The senator, who represents Borno South Senatorial District, said his constituency has continued to face repeated attacks, noting that recent assaults on Chibok communities also resulted in killings of residents, including the elderly.

He further explained that the latest incident in Mussa was particularly alarming because it targeted schoolchildren during learning hours.

Ndume reiterated his appeal to security agencies, especially the Nigerian Army, to act swiftly to secure the release of the abducted persons.
