In Nigeria, the festive season has become more than just a time for celebration, it’s a prime opportunity for entrepreneurs to boost their income. One increasingly popular and surprisingly lucrative venture is renting out bouncy castles, which attract children’s parties, community events, and holiday gatherings, turning fun into a steady stream of cash for savvy business owners.

As families flock to celebrate birthdays, school parties, and holidays, demand for fun and safe entertainment options skyrockets. For many, investing in a bouncy castle business not only brings joy to children, but also opens a steady stream of income during these vibrant times of the year.

Mama Aisha Abass, who stayed around Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, rented a bouncy castle for N50,000 and a mascot for N25,000, to celebrate her baby’s first birthday. She added that, transporting it to the venue and setup cost an additional N20,000. “I saw the bouncy castles online and then messaged the supplier. I am happy that they didn’t disappoint and the children who came to celebrate with us had fun,” she explained.

According to Doctor Ke Kid’s party, Simon, a bouncy castle is a profitable enterprise that can be run concurrently with any other side hustle because it is not the typical 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. type of work.

Market

There is a market for this business because it caters to children who are either having birthday parties, graduations, family reunions, or other big life events.

Patronage

According to Simon, the December period is usually our pick because of the holidays and festive season, and the majority of the requests come from churches. We also get them from other organizations, schools, and other events.

To get started, you will need a substantial amount of money to purchase the inflatable house and some other necessary things. There are different specifications of inflatable castles in the market. The small size is around N450,000, while the big size is around N900,000 with an engine blower.

Profit

Simon said, as an inflatable bounce house provider, one can make money on a request. “Size and location determine how much we charge.” A big size is N60,000 for a day, while the small size is N35,000. We also operate a space at the mall and charge an entry fee of N1,000 for each child or negotiate a price on a group basis.

“If there are 20 children playing per day and the fee is N1,000 per person, then the daily income can reach N20,000, so you can imagine how much in a month. You can offer additional party services, such as slides, interactive games, dunk tanks, and face painting, if you want to earn more, “ he pointed out.

Training

You will also need experience before entering this business, which does not require attending school. All you have to do is find someone who is currently doing the work and follow him; you will gain experience as a result. You don’t have to devote much time to this.

Advice

Do not let clients who require your services down. Prepare and always carry an alternative power supply, and keep an eye on the when using the bouncy castles. Also cleaning and sanitising inflatables after use is important.
