The rumoured passage of veteran Yoruba actor and film maker, Chief Lere Paimo, popularly known as Eda Onile Ola, is untrue.
Some social media platforms had in the early hours of Saturday announced the passing of the 86-year-old Ogbomoso, Oyo State-born veteran Thespian.
Debunking the report in a statement on Saturday, the National Public Relations Officer of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, affirmed that Chief Paimo is alive and in good health.
“We would like to inform the public that reports circulating on Facebook about the passing of Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR) are false.
“We have confirmed with Baba Eda Onile Ola’s wife that he is alive and in good health.
“Please disregard these false reports and be aware that they are being spread by unscrupulous individuals.”
The association urged the public to disregard the rumour and verify information before sharing unconfirmed reports, warning against the spread of misinformation.
“We urge everyone to verify information before sharing to avoid spreading misinformation,” the statement said.
