Bubly, a brand of flavoured sparkling water owned by PepsiCo, on Monday revealed a new line of limited-edition flavours motivated by the forthcoming ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’. The drink’s packs are character-themed and colour-changing, plus there’s also an opportunity to win a free trip to NASA, among other prizes.
The Vice President of Marketing for Bubly, Michael Smith, said in a statement that Super Mario is one of the most classic and beloved franchises in entertainment, encouraging adventure and exploration for fans of every generation.
“We’re thrilled to bring the magic of this universe into the grocery aisle and be part of fans’ excitement leading up to the film,” he said.
Among the new flavours motivated by the animated movie from Illumination and Nintendo are: Meteor Melon, described as an other-worldly watermelon lime, Cosmic Swirl, made up of a galactic mix of vanilla and berry; and Dragonfruit Stardust, a blend of pineapple dragonfruit.”
In the lead-up to the film’s release, all three flavours are said to arrive in colour-changing, specialised cans decorated with Lumas that change appearance when cold.
And for fans of the drink’s existing flavours like Lime, Blackberry, Cherry, Grapefruit, and Strawberry, they can grab the character-themed packs featuring Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Toad, and Bowser Jr.
The Rosalina character is also set to be featured on 50 custom-made Galaxy cans hidden inside the themed packs. Any consumer who comes across one will win what Bubly calls “the ultimate Galaxy Getaway Grand Prize,” an all-expenses-paid trip for two to NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre Visitor Complex in Merritt Island, Florida.
Other prizes to be won include complimentary movie tickets and goods for fans who redeem Star Bits before May 8. Fans who watch the movie at Regal and Marcus Theatres before April 16 can also have a chance to win the getaway by entering through in-store promotions.
