Located along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, the new outlet becomes the 24th Burger King location in Nigeria since the brand’s debut in 2021. The grand opening was a lively celebration of food, culture, and community. Top state dignitaries were in attendance, including the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, and Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Pius Okoye.

Guests enjoyed performances by cultural dancers, upbeat music from DJs, games for children, and Instagram-worthy photo booths bearing the message: “Awka Eze Abiala”, Igbo for “Awka, the King has arrived.

Speaking at the unveiling event, Burger King Nigeria’s managing director and CEO, Mr. Rushdi Ibrahim, shared insights into the decision to open in Awka, noting the city’s energy and potential. “We considered several locations, including Onitsha, but Awka stood out as the first spot in Anambra state. It has a youthful spirit, a growing population, and a welcoming urban atmosphere,” he said.

He also revealed that Burger King aims to establish a presence in at least 15 Nigerian states by the end of 2025, with plans already in motion to bring a store to Onitsha.
