Buruj Sports Academy has officially unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art stadium complex following the acquisition of six acres of land in Ikorodu, Lagos State — a development widely regarded as a potential game-changer for grassroots football in the country.
The proposed facility is set to feature a standard football pitch, modern athletics track, 5,000-capacity pavilion, dressing rooms, players’ tunnel, referees’ section, parking facilities and a world-class training environment aimed at developing the next generation of football talent.
For the management of Buruj Sports Academy, the project represents far more than physical infrastructure. It is viewed as the culmination of years of sustained effort and commitment to identifying and nurturing young players who are now attracting attention both within Nigeria and internationally.
The academy’s rising profile has been strengthened by the achievements of several of its players, notably former Nigeria Under-15 internationals Fawaz Ayomide Adeleke and Raheem Moyinoluwa Salaudeen, who have reunited at Buruj Football Club ahead of the 2026 Nationwide League One season.
Team captain and forward Raheem Salaudeen, alongside attacking midfielder Fawaz Adeleke, represented Nigeria at youth tournaments in Morocco in 2024 and Algeria in 2025, where their impressive partnership earned praise from football observers and youth development stakeholders.
Fawaz further enhanced his reputation during the 2025 School Games in Burkina Faso, scoring the decisive goal against the Benin Republic to secure a memorable victory for Nigeria and underline his growing potential on the continental stage.
Their return to Buruj is being viewed as a significant statement of ambition as the academy intensifies its drive towards greater national recognition.
Buruj Sports Academy has also facilitated the movement of several players to Europe in recent years, with talents securing opportunities at clubs in Spain and Lithuania. Meanwhile, Raheem Salaudeen continues to attract increasing international interest following his rapid development and performances in Nigerian football.
Speaking on the stadium project, a club official described it as a landmark step in the academy’s journey.
“This is not merely a stadium project — it is a dream for every young footballer who believes talent deserves opportunity,” the official said.
“We have produced national team players, exported talents abroad, and now we are creating an environment that reflects our ambition and commitment to excellence.”
From a modest grassroots initiative to an academy with aspirations of building a football landmark, Buruj Sports Academy appears determined to make a lasting impact on Nigerian football development. If its current trajectory is anything to go by, the project may soon command national attention.
