Capello Names 3 Football Icons Better Than Ronaldo

Fabio Capello, the former England manager, has ignited debate by naming three football legends he considers superior to Cristiano Ronaldo. Capello, known for his forthright opinions, believes that Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, and Ronaldo Nazario possess a “genius” that elevates them above the Al-Nassr forward.

Speaking on the Egyptian programme ‘Hat-trick’ on ON Sport, Capello elaborated: “Cristiano [Ronaldo] is a great goalscorer and an incredible athlete, but he doesn’t have the genius of Messi, Maradona or Ronaldo Nazario. That genius that the others possessed is absent in Cristiano. He can’t be compared to those three.”

This assessment directly contrasts with Cristiano Ronaldo’s own declaration of being the greatest footballer of all time. The 41-year-old boasts an astonishing 961 career goals, a testament to his remarkable longevity and scoring prowess. However, Capello’s comments suggest that for some, sheer goal tallies do not fully encapsulate the artistry and innate brilliance that defines the sport’s most exceptional talents. The debate over who truly stands at the pinnacle of football continues to be a fervent topic among fans and pundits alike.
