Wema Bank has announced a final call for entries for the 2026 edition of its One-Day MD/CEO contest, with submissions scheduled to close on May 20, 2026.

The initiative, which was introduced in May 2025 as part of the bank’s 80th anniversary celebration, was designed to give children and teenagers across Nigeria the opportunity to assume the role of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the bank for one day in commemoration of Children’s Day.

According to the bank, the programme was inspired by its anniversary theme, “80 Years of Impact, A Future of Possibilities,” and aimed to inspire young Nigerians to envision leadership roles and future career opportunities within the financial sector.

The inaugural edition of the initiative attracted national attention in 2025 after 12-year-old Chiderije Mbah emerged winner and served as the bank’s MD/CEO for a day on Children’s Day.

The programme was widely commended by parents and stakeholders for encouraging leadership development and ambition among children.

For the 2026 edition, the bank said children and teenagers between the ages of 0 and 16 are eligible to participate.

The selected winner will assume the role of MD/CEO of Wema Bank for one day on May 25, 2026, ahead of this year’s Children’s Day celebration.

As part of the experience, the winner will participate in executive-level activities, including board meetings, strategic decision-making sessions and leadership engagements within the bank.

To enter the competition, participants are required to create a 60-second video explaining their preferred role in banking and the impact they hope to make in the industry. The video must be posted on any social media platform with the hashtag #EvolutionOfPossibilities while tagging the bank’s official handle.

The bank stated that the participant whose entry receives the highest number of likes will emerge winner of the competition.

Wema Bank urged parents and guardians to encourage eligible children and teenagers to submit their entries before the deadline.
