Church Leader Urges Violence-Free Political Campaigns

As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, the founder of Love of Christ Generation Church, Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi, has urged politicians to embrace issue-based campaigns and discourage thuggery, intimidations and violence.

He also urged the citizens to embrace love, unity and peaceful coexistence as a way of overcoming the country’s challenges.

Next year, Nigeria will head to the polls for a general election that will determine the leaders that would be entrusted with the task of steering the country’s affair.

The electoral process is expected to be a defining moment, coming at a time when citizens are grappling with economic hardship, rising inflation, unemployment, and widespread concerns about governance and national unity.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the church’s anniversary thanksgiving service with the theme

“Harvest of Divine Favour,” Ajayi said the event is not only about spiritual gratitude but also a call for Nigerians to remain hopeful despite present difficulties.

Many observers noted that the 2027 polls will test the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic institutions and the ability of political actors to conduct peaceful, credible elections.

With tensions already visible in public discourse, Ajayi urged citizens to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence as the country prepares for this critical democratic exercise.

She acknowledged the strain many families are facing but expressed optimism that the hardship would not last forever.

“No government can take care of all its citizens at once but with love, we will all overcome. If you truly love your country, you will not do anything that will put the country in a bad shape. I can tell you categorically that Nigeria will be great again,” she said.

Ajayi stressed that the anniversary would be a remarkable gathering dedicated to appreciating God for His faithfulness and the numerous testimonies recorded by the church over the years.

She added that the celebration would provide worshippers with another opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to winning more souls for Christ, while also reflecting on the nation’s need for unity and peace in the face of political and economic uncertainty.
