A coalition of 28 civil society organisations, led by the Executive Director of Karlos Community Development and Empowerment Initiative, Comr. Abdulsalam Sani, has expressed support for the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Dr. Adamu Abubakar, following recent allegations made against him.
In a statement issued yesterday, the groups described the allegations as unfounded and politically motivated, urging the public and relevant authorities to disregard them.
“Since assuming office two months ago, Dr. Abubakar has shown commitment and leadership in advancing agricultural transformation in the country. The Council, given its role in the President’s agenda, should not be distracted by unverified claims,” the statement read.
The organisations stressed that Dr. Abubakar has not been indicted by any investigative body, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
They maintained that the allegations being circulated lack evidence and should not overshadow his work at the Council.
We therefore call on the public, the media, and relevant authorities to treat these falsehoods with the contempt they deserve. Character assassination by faceless interests not only threatens the reputation of hardworking public servants but also undermines the stability of vital national institutions
The coalition reaffirmed confidence in Dr. Abubakar’s leadership and encouraged him to remain focused on his mandate of strengthening agricultural research, innovation, and productivity in Nigeria.
