Community Policing, Family Vigilance Critical Against Insecurity – Abia Monarch

Community policing, family vigilance and individual responsibility are critical to tackling the emerging insecurity across the country hence the need to priorities them.

The traditional ruler of Umuoparaozara Olokoro autonomous community, Umuahia South local government area, Eze Silver Obani, stated this at the inauguration of a security committee in the community.

Represented by a leader in the community, Innocent Onyekwere, he announced that the town had begun routine bush-combing as part of efforts to strengthen security.

He said this followed intelligence reports that suspected criminals including bandits and hoodlums among others could be using the bushes as hideouts.

The monarch argued that in view of its magnitude, it is no longer safe to leave insecurity to the security agencies alone to handle, hence the need for such interventions.

He urged the residents to remain alert, monitor suspicious movements within the environment and to report any unusual activities to the leaders or relevant security agencies.

In his remarks, a Diaspora representative and stakeholder of the community, Ebenezer Onwuama said all hands must be on deck for the community’s security project to succeed.

‎Speaking separately, the president-general, Livinus Uzoanya, the committee chairman, Luke Obani, and some youths, Ike Onuoju and Ifeme Chibuzo noted the need to secure the community

‎Stressing that the community will remain vigilant against criminals, they added that it would not allow anyone to threaten its ancestral land or undermine the peace.
