The chairman/chief executive officer of Plateau Duncan Fertilizer Company Limited, Dr. Godfrey Bawa Shitgurum,  has assured farmers, citizens of Plateau State and Nigerians  that standard would not be compromised as the company commences fertilizer production in Plateau State.

He added  that the company is committed to the production of standard and farmer- friendly fertilizer that would meet the needs of  farmers across the state and nation.

He spoke during the commissioning of the plant at Larwin Heipang in Barkin Ladi local government area of the state.

“Achieving sustainable agriculture to meet the society’s food needs without compromising standards informed the vision of establishing the company knowing fully well that Plateau State and other neighboring states have huge agrarian populations,” he said.

He added that the company is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between the Plateau State government and Oil and Chemical International (OCI) Limited which is a subsidiary of the Duncan Group.

“The partnership was signed in August 2016 for the purpose of establishing and operating an ultra-modern NPK fertilizer blending plant that will ensure food security for all by boosting the productivity of the agrarian population of Plateau State and the country at large,” he added.

He assured the company that the government would do all within its powers to ensure that the plant serves farmers in the state and beyond.

Senator Rochas Okorocha as chairman of the occasion in his remarks said Plateau State is endowed with huge agricultural potential, and the plant would boost agriculture and provide means of livelihood for many people.
