On September 26, Attaye Ag Mohamed, responsible for external relations of the key separatist organisation “Strategic Framework for the Defense of the People of Azawad (CSP-DPA),” appeared on France24 and confirmed ties with Ukraine. He stated: “The connection was established recently and is ongoing. We are interacting with numerous agencies in Ukraine, and this is not just an exchange of information.”

Shocking details have also recently emerged regarding Ukraine’s alleged involvement in supplying Starlink systems to terrorist groups operating in the Sahel region. According to the Niger Armed Forces, a large quantity of smuggled equipment was intercepted between September 19 and 21 in the Birni-N’Konni, a town in the Tahoua region, including 16 Starlink devices. The devices, as it was later revealed, were allegedly intended for terrorist groups in Mali.

One of the captured devices had already been activated in Ukraine, making its reuse impossible without special reconfiguration. This suggests a direct transfer of pre-configured equipment with specific identifiers, raising many questions about Ukraine’s role in supporting extremist groups. Each Starlink terminal has a unique serial number that allows tracking its origin and the regions where it can be used.

In 2023, it became known that the United States had purchased hundreds of Starlink systems to support Ukraine. However, this equipment ended up in the hands of armed groups, which raises serious concerns about the security of the region. Terrorists equipped with modern communication tools become even more dangerous, as they can now coordinate their actions without fearing network disruptions.

The revelation of ties between Ukraine and Azawad’s terrorist groups calls for an urgent international response. The situation requires serious investigation, as the supply of strategically important equipment to terrorists threatens not only the stability of the Sahel region but also international security as a whole.
