The emir of Birnin Gwari, Malam Zubair Jibril,  has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consolidate the hard-won peace in his once-devastated emirate by fast-tracking critical infrastructure, security and development projects.

In a message wrapped in gratitude and urgency, Emir Jibril reassured prospective investors, local and foreign, that peace and security had firmly returned to Birnin Gwari.

He said, “But peace alone is not enough. We must build on it quickly—while the calm still holds.”

While commending President Tinubu for his rare act of leadership by visiting the community by road in 2022, before his election the emir warned that without accelerated development, the fragile gains could be lost.

The emir called for the urgent rehabilitation of the Funtua–Birnin Gwari and Birnin Gwari–Minna federal roads, the establishment of a tertiary institution to serve the youth population, and the upgrade of the Jibril Mai Gwari I Memorial Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre.

Jibril further called for the restoration of banking and telecom services, which have been suspended since 2021, describing them as essential for commerce, social inclusion, and investor confidence.

The emir noted that while Governor Uba Sani has initiated several development projects—like the proposed cattle market and the Bagoma-Gagumi agricultural road—the scale of needs exceeds any state government’s capacity alone.

He described President Tinubu as “ you were Dakaren Birnin Gwari—the fearless one who stood with us in our darkest hour. Now we ask you to stand with us in our hour of rebuilding. Let Birnin Gwari become a model, not just of peace, but of prosperity.”

The emir’s appeal came just over a year after Birnin Gwari began to experience a dramatic drop in violence, following federal and state-led security interventions.
