Council Commends Oil Firm For Asset Protection, Community Development

The Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas and Pipeline Impacted States Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCON Youth Council) has commended Grosvenor Global Services Limited (GGSL) for its contributions to the protection of Nigeria’s critical oil and gas assets and its investment in host community development across the Niger Delta.

The commendation was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the council’s Annual Mid-Term Review Meeting in Abuja, where the National Executive Council (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BOT) assessed the performance of indigenous companies engaged in protecting the nation’s oil and gas infrastructure.

Speaking on behalf of the council, the National President of HOSTCON Youth Council, Snr. Comr. Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder, popularly known as Gen. Osama, said GGSL emerged as one of the best-performing indigenous firms following a review of companies involved in pipeline surveillance and oil asset protection.

According to him, the company distinguished itself through effective host community engagement, employment opportunities for local youths, corporate social responsibility programmes and its commitment to safeguarding critical national assets.

He said GGSL’s humanitarian interventions and inclusive stakeholder partnerships had contributed significantly to peace, security and sustainable development in its areas of operation.

Pathfinder also commended the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of GGSL, Asiwaju Engr. Prince Olusoji Olatunji, describing him as a transparent, visionary and people-oriented leader.

“The National Executive Council and Board of Trustees unanimously commend and endorse his exceptional foresight, transformational leadership and outstanding commitment to host community development, and hereby pass a vote of confidence on his leadership and stewardship,” he said.

He described Olatunji as a patriotic corporate leader whose approach to host community relations should serve as a model for operators in the oil and gas industry.

The council urged indigenous and multinational oil companies to strengthen partnerships with host communities, expand empowerment initiatives and promote responsible corporate governance to sustain peace, increase crude oil production and enhance the protection of critical energy infrastructure.

Highlighting GGSL’s achievements, Pathfinder said the company had expanded into one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous energy services firms while making significant contributions to pipeline security.

According to him, the firm’s interventions have helped reduce crude oil theft and improve the security of vital oil and gas infrastructure in the Niger Delta.

The council also acknowledged Olatunji’s investments in education and youth development through the distribution of learning materials, support for sports and entertainment initiatives, and regular humanitarian assistance to vulnerable families.

It further noted that the establishment of the headquarters of Grosvenor Global Services Limited and Tratun Energy Limited in Otokutu, Delta State, has created employment opportunities and stimulated economic activities within the host community.

The youth body also praised Olatunji’s healthcare initiative, PROOF, noting that the programme has provided free medical consultations, drugs and healthcare supplies to residents of more than 50 communities across the Niger Delta.

According to the council, sustained collaboration between oil companies and host communities remains essential to protecting Nigeria’s oil and gas assets while promoting inclusive development and lasting peace in the Niger Delta.
