A High Court in Yola, Adamawa State, has granted bail to Gambo Nakura, chairman of the Concerned Citizens group, who had been imprisoned for 23 days on charges of insulting the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other prominent figures.

Nakura had been held on charges of defamation, use of abusive language, and disturbing public peace.

The court ruled that the charges were bailable, and Nakura was released on a N5 million bail bond with a reliable surety. The case will now proceed in the Upper Area Court II, Yola.

The High Court also quashed the proceedings of the lower court, finding that the bail conditions set there were unfair.
