A 42-year-old man, Christopher Israel, has been ordered to be remanded by a Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti for allegedly raping his 22-year-old daughter.

Israel was charged by the police with rape and assault.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that Israel committed the offence in Ado Ekiti on September 21, 2024.

The suspect, according to Apata, allegedly raped his 22-year-old daughter, who came to visit him and also inflicted injuries on her in the process as she was struggling with him.

The prosecutor added that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 265 and 256 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

The plea of the suspect was, however, not taken by the Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele for want in jurisdiction.
