A Lagos State Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Igbosere has remanded six men in prison over allegations of conspiracy, conduct likely to cause breach of the public peace, and cutting off the fingers of a woman.
Chief Magistrate T. O. Babalola ordered that the defendant be kept behind bars after they were arraigned before him by the men of Force Criminal Investigation Department Force CID, Lagos.
The defendants: Kazeem Waheed; SanniAdegoroye; AdenipebiAdegoroye; Amunikoro Owolabi; Olayinka Adenipebi; and Hakeem Musiliu are to remain in prison until they can perfect their bail terms.
The police prosecutor, MorufuAnimashaun had informed the court that the defendants and others now at large, sometime in 2019, invaded a community, Okunlofa via ise Lekki, Lagos.
Animashaun also claimed that during the invasion of the community, the defendants inflicted bodily harm on the trio of Mrs. Idowu Okunniyi; Rasheed Gbenga, and Igbokoyi Ayodele, by cutting off their fingers and cutting them on some parts of the body.
He further informed the court that the defendants’ allegedly illegal activity, caused the inhabitants of the village much apprehension, which resulted in the breach of the peace of the village.
The prosecutor also stated that offences committed by the defendants contravened Sections Section 411; 246(a) and 168 (1)(d)of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 and were punishable under section 168(2) of the same Laws.
All the defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Babalola after listening to the counsel admitted each of the defendants to bail in the sum of N250,000 with one responsible surety each.
The magistrate then adjourned the matter to November 7, for trial.
Gunmen Kidnap Delta LG Vice Chairman, Couple

Fear has gripped the Delta State chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) over the reported abduction of the vice chairman of Isoko North local government area of the state, Frank EsiwoOzue.
The same day, a couple whose identity is yet to be known were kidnapped on their way from Warri to Ughelli when their car was waylaid and taken away to an unknown destination.
Ozue was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Sunday at Ogor town in Ughelli on his way to Patani area of the state.
The victim was said to be alone when his vehicle was waylaid by the kidnappers and whisked to an unknown location.
A family source who confirmed the incident on Monday said the abductors left his car and his phones behind.
“He was going to the Patani area when he was stopped by the kidnappers along the Iwhre-Ovie/Oviri-Ogor Road off the Ughelli/Evwreni section of the East-West Road.
“The kidnappers left his car and his belongings including his phones at the scene of the incident. They (kidnappers) have not reached out to the family since yesterday (Sunday). The family is very worried about the state of his health”, a family source said yesterday.
While the couple were said to have been released early Monday morning after all the money in their bank account were withdrawn, the source added that the gunmen were yet to contact the family for ransom or his whereabouts as of the time of filing this report.
A former chairman of ALGON in the state who spoke off camera was heard lamenting the incident, that those who are after the welfare of residents at the local level have always been subjected to torture and at the receiving end.
